Hijama has a long history in the Muslim community, and several well-known narrations — including reports in Sunan Abu Dawud and other collections — mention the 17th, 19th and 21st days of the lunar month as favoured days for it. That is why so many people ask us for a slot on those dates, and why we list them here for Calgary.
Scholars discuss the grading of these narrations and how best to follow them, and some also mention particular weekdays to prefer or avoid. Many consider hijama on these days a recommended practice rather than an obligation. We are practitioners, not scholars, so please ask your imam or a scholar you trust about the religious side. From our side, any day of the month is welcome for a session.
Because the Islamic calendar follows the moon, the three Sunnah days fall on different Gregorian dates every month and move roughly eleven days earlier each year. The table below does the arithmetic for you.
